Approved Content Must Remain Approved Everywhere
A property image could keep moving through proposals and partner channels long after the room it depicted had changed.
Approval protects the customer only while its authority, permitted use, and expiration travel with the asset.

The file did not expire when the room did
A property image did not expire when a renovation made it obsolete. The file could remain in a proposal, folder, or partner channel and continue creating confidence under an approval that no longer described the room.
By May 2021, memory could not govern every commercial destination. The asset needed to carry its owner, permitted use, and review condition because “approved” alone did not explain why it remained safe.
Distribution solved reach before control
Kempinski's 2020 announcement described centralized content curation across 76 hotels in 34 countries. In May 2021, Shiji announced visual-content distribution for Minor Hotels properties and brands worldwide. Company announcements do not independently prove accuracy or commercial improvement. They do establish scale.
At that reach, a correction could not depend on remembering every destination. One portfolio governance model became an operating requirement.
“Approved” contained several decisions
A factual reviewer confirmed the room. A brand reviewer considered audience and presentation. A rights specialist might permit use on the corporate site but exclude a partner channel.
One status could not preserve those boundaries. Teams needed to know which authority approved which use and when another review became necessary. That control protected distinctive properties at portfolio scale precisely because truthful difference was worth preserving.
The copy created debt when it lost its source
A downloaded image could answer a customer quickly, then remain active after the entrance it showed had moved. Once the copy lost its source, the central team could not identify which proposal still depended on it.
Tourism research helps explain why the error mattered: persuasive representation can shape anticipation. It did not study portfolio approval or distribution accuracy. A strong obsolete view could therefore be more consequential than a weak one.
Governance had to reach the destination
SiteSee could keep property evidence connected to the authority and limits surrounding its use. The operating value was not the size of a library but the ability to distribute current material without detaching it from the reason it remained trustworthy.
An audit compared the approved source with every customer-facing destination where the opening image appeared. The same discipline became urgent when an acquisition brings unfamiliar content histories together.
The image could travel widely. Its authority and boundaries had to make the same journey, or the approval label arrived alone.
